Installing Percy Chat as an app

Percy Chat runs in the browser, but you can install it so it behaves like a native app, with its own window or home-screen icon, no address bar, and no hunting for the right tab.

There is no Install button inside Percy Chat. Installation is handled by your browser or operating system.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open percy.chat in Safari. (Chrome and Firefox on iOS can't install web apps.)

  2. Tap the Share button, the square with an arrow.

  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.

  4. Tap Add.

Percy Chat appears on your home screen as "Percy" and opens full-screen.

Android

  1. Open percy.chat in Chrome.

  2. Tap the โ‹ฎ menu.

  3. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen.

Desktop (Chrome, Edge, Brave)

Look for the install icon in the address bar, a small monitor with a downward arrow or a +, and click Install. If you don't see it, open the โ‹ฎ menu and choose Cast, save and share โ†’ Install page as app, or Apps โ†’ Install this site as an app, depending on your browser version.

Safari on macOS: open the File menu and choose Add to Dock.

Firefox does not support installing web apps on desktop. Percy Chat works normally in a Firefox tab.

Updating

Percy Chat updates itself in the background. When a new version is ready you'll see a message:

A new version of Percy Chat is available Reload to get the latest version.

Click Reload when you're ready. The prompt is deliberate rather than automatic, so an update can never interrupt a reply that's still being written. You can safely ignore it until you've finished what you're doing.

Offline

If you lose your connection, Percy Chat shows an offline page rather than a browser error. Sending messages needs a connection, since the models run in the cloud, so you'll need to be back online to continue a conversation.
